- Over the past century, the activities of racial/ethnic minority peoples, immigration, and changes in United Church structures and policies gave rise to the national unit and related networks.
- Racial Justice and Ethnic Ministries
- Proactive anti-racism education and training is an integral ministry focus of Ethnic Ministries, and the unit promotes ongoing anti-racism advocacy in its ministries.
- "Welcome" Collage and Logo
- The unit has created a collage that says “welcome” in many different languages, and has also designed an artistic image—a logo—that weaves together who Ethnic Ministries is, and what they believe.
