E-Newsletters

This page offers solutions to common problems with our e-newsletters (Connections, Marketing News Update, Emerging Spirit News, etc.).

I had trouble subscribing

This could happen for several reasons, but the most common is a pop-up blocker.
Our e-newsletters use a pop-up window that allows you to enter your name and e-mail address when subscribing. If this pop-up window does not appear when you click on a subscribe link, please ensure you "allow" pop-ups for united-church.ca (usually a yellow bar appears at the top of the screen). Be assured the United Church does not use pop-ups for advertising, or any other unsolicited information.

I didn't receive my newsletter

There are several reasons this might happen, but the most common are:

  1. You did not reply to the confirmation e-mail sent soon after you filled out the subscription form. Simply find the e-mail and reply, and you will receive the next newsletter when it is published.
  2. No newsletter has been published since you subscribed. Not all newsletters publish on a regular basis. Be patient – one could be sent any day now!
  3. Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) has blocked our newsletter service, which is provided by a company named GotCorp. Unfortunately, there is little the United Church can do to resolve this problem. You can try to sign up again, using a different e-mail address/domain (a domain is what comes after the @ in your e-mail address), or contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or e-mail provider and ask them to stop blocking GotCorp and Campaigner.com.

The e-newsletter doesn't look right

Each e-mail program displays content differently. Although we try very hard to ensure our e-newsletters are legible and display correctly, we can't test in all applications.

Missing images

Many programs and services now block images by default. You can often select “display images” at the top of your screen when viewing a message, and all images should appear. To prevent this from happening in future, you can also add the “from” address to your contacts/address book.
